What is the biology of happiness and what is its evolutionary significance? What makes people happy-youth, fortune, marriage, chocolate? Is the pursuit of happiness pointless? The class will also involve self-reflection and experiential exercises to try at home.

Business, Information Technology, and Social Sciences Courses
Resolve to make big changes in your life this year! Want to exercise more but never seem to stick to a consistent routine? Have a snacking habit you’d like to ditch? Wish you watched less TV or quit scrolling the internet constantly? Like to reduce those two nightly glasses of one to one to sleep better at night? Spend less at the grocery store or shopping online for stuff you don’t need? Learn and decide which habits to keep and others to scuttle. Learn about the three keystones of habit and how they can help or hinder us to be our best, healthiest selves. This 8-week, 90-minute class focuses on a fresh perspective to habit formation and transformation. We will use Charles Duhigg’s The Power of Habit and Gretchen Rubin’s Better Than Before to frame our discussion and writing activities. Students will be responsible for purchasing books for class.
